About

Sunnydale California, the home of Buffy, Xander, Willow and so many more series regulars, reoccurring cast, and misc. demons and vampires. Living there has got to be crazy entertaining! More so for the regular folks then for those who battle the forces of evil. And by regular folks I mean the humans and demons that live their day to day lives while the Apocalypse happens around them on a regular basis.

I’ve been a longtime fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but recently I realized just how awesome the show was… again. With Netflix running Buffy and Angel on their instant viewing I fell in love again. And now I own the DVD set. Of Buffy, not Angel. ‘Cause, well, Angel’s just too depressing. It’s the nature of his curse.

Buffy’s been off the air for more than a couple of years and it’s hard to find new snarky appreciation for the show. Recently I came across The Bitter Buffalo’s Buffy Fashion Roulette, a review of the strange choices of the Buffy costume department. Due to it’s weekly observations on the fashion choices of each episodes I’ve come to realize there is more than just questionable fashion to ponder.

So, when thinking about minor plot points, throwaway lines, and strange production choices I’ve begun to try and come up with reasonable explanations for what it’s like to live in Sunnydale. All are unsubstantiated, but all try to make sense of a show that on occasion leaves you hanging. Of course for me it tends to be more about a lack of knowing what it’s like to do laundry with Clem than important plot holes like *****. This blog is kind of a Norther Exposure (my other all time favorite show) view on what it’s like to live in Sunnydale.

Feel free to disagree, or come up with your own wild and wonderful theories. I’d be happy to have guest posters who have something to say about what would be considered mundane in a place like Sunnydale. After all the richness of the show lies in more than the life of the Slayer, but in living on the hellmouth itself.
